DAY ONE: FLY TO MUNICH

Arrive in Munich, from where you will be taken to Passau to embark your luxury river cruise ship. Meet your fellow travellers over dinner on board.

DAY TWO: EXPLORE PASSAU

Your first place to explore is the city of Passau, on the GermanAust­rian border. Known as the Three Rivers City, Passau sits on the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz. Your walking tour will take you through the old town’s cobbled streets, overlooked by the hilltop Oberhaus Fortress. Visit St Stephen’s Cathedral, a fantastic example of baroque architectu­re, where Europe’s largest church organ is housed. Tonight your captain will host a welcome dinner and cocktail reception.

DAY THREE: WANDER THROUGH LINZ

The next stop is Linz, Austria’s third largest city. Wander around the bustling market squares and pretty old town on a tour of this fascinatin­g city, where the historic meets the contempora­ry. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

DAY FOUR: VISIT DURNSTEIN CASTLE

Today you’ll arrive at Melk, known for its spectacula­r 900-year-old Benedictin­e abbey. Enjoy an optional guided bike tour between Melk and the charming town of Durnstein, following the course of the Danube. Situated in the Wachau region, famous for its wine, Durnstein is home to the Durnstein Castle, where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned in the 12th Century.

DAY FIVE: WATCH BRENDAN’S EVENING OF DANCE

Welcome to Vienna, a city shaped by artists and musicians through the ages. Explore the magnificen­t city on a guided bike tour, or opt for a more relaxed driving tour, taking in Vienna’s world-famous Opera House, the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Burgtheate­r and the Spanish Riding School. Tonight, an exciting evening of music and dance awaits with Brendan Cole and his profession­al partner performing a one-off showcase at the magnificen­t Vienna Arsenal.

DAY SIX: DISCOVER VIENNA – AND ENJOY A GALA DINNER

There’s plenty more to discover in Vienna, including its thriving foodie scene. Explore at your leisure, or choose to spend the day touring Bratislava (optional extra), capital of Slovakia. This pedestrian-only 18th Century city overlooks the Danube and is surrounded by picturesqu­e mountains and vineyards. This afternoon, enjoy an exclusive Q&A with Brendan Cole on board your Emerald Waterways ship, before the captain welcomes you to a farewell gala dinner while you sail to Budapest.

DAY SEVEN: TAKE A TOUR OF BUDAPEST

Today you’ll see the sights of Budapest on a guided walking tour of the city. Budapest has a rich heritage and a magnificen­t natural setting which, paired with its lively reputation, makes it one of the most cosmopolit­an cities in Eastern Europe. On the tour, visit the Hungarian Parliament building or climb Buda Hill for spectacula­r views. Then enjoy a night-time cruise along the Danube while enjoying a Hungarian dinner with folk dancing and music.

DAY EIGHT: DEPART BUDAPEST

After breakfast, it is time to say farewell your fellow passengers and disembark the ship for your transfer to the airport.
