Crouch ‘changes game’ to rescue point

-

PETER CROUCH again proved to be the Stoke hero as he came off the bench to deny Leicester victory at the Bet365 Stadium, with manager Mark Hughes admitting he ‘changed the game for us’.

Stoke had gone behind for the first time on 33 minutes as Vicente Iborra fired home from a corner before Xherdan Shaqiri equalised six minutes later.

Leicester had looked set for three points after Riyad Mahrez put them ahead again on the hour mark.

But just eight minutes after coming on, Crouch rose highest to head home from Shaqiri’s corner.

‘Peter was effective when he came on,’ said Hughes.

‘He always gets himself in a good position and he knew what was required. He changed the game for us.

‘We won’t win every game, we won’t lose every game. It is about getting a steady return in terms of points. Every time you get a Premier League point, you should celebrate.’

Huddersfield managed to take all three points despite playing over 30 minutes with 10 men after Christopher Schindler was sent off. Rajiv van La Parra secured victory for the Terrors over West Brom.

Steve Cook’s injurytime header sneaked a valuable win for Bournemouth at Newcastle.

Burnley’s impressive start to the season continued with a 1-0 win away to Southampton.

Sam Vokes found the net nine minutes from time.

Swansea dropped into the relegation zone after a 1-0 defeat at home to Brighton, with veteran striker Glenn Murray finding the net for the Seagulls.
