Mollie: I’m so shocked that I knocked out amazing Aston

After Strictly’s biggest controversy, two wildly differing views

THE Saturdays star Mollie King has revealed her shock after surviving a dance-off against Strictly Come Dancing favourite Aston Merrygold.

Mollie, 30, admitted that she thought she would be eliminated when she found herself in the bottom two with Aston last week.

She said: ‘I thought it was all going to be over for sure. Aston is one of the very best dancers in Strictly. If it had been a different week, it could have been a different outcome.’

Aston’s departure from the hit BBC1 show was greeted with astonishment by viewers.

Mollie also laughed off reports that she is having an affair with her professional dance partner, AJ Pritchard.

She said: ‘I think it’s inevitable with the show that there are always romance rumours. You have got to laugh it off. I think he is lovely looking, but I don’t fancy him.’

Mollie and AJ, 23, last night danced a paso doble to Layla by Derek and the Dominos – but they scored only 22 points, putting them at risk of another dance-off.

Meanwhile, Debbie McGee and her partner Giovanni Pernice could not match their perfect 40 of last week, but still scored a strong 35 with a daring salsa to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.

Coming joint top of the leaderboard were Alexandra Burke and partner Gorka Marquez, and Davood Ghadami and Nadiya Bychkova, who both scored 38 from the judges.
