- By Katie Hind

TV PRESENTER Davina McCall’s 17-year marriage to husband Matthew Robertson is over.

The star broke the news last night, saying: ‘I am very sad to say that Matthew and I have separated. Our amazing children are our No 1 priority above everything else, so therefore we ask for as much space and respect from the media as possible while our family goes through this difficult time.’

Friends stressed that no one else was involved in the breakdown of their relationship.

The couple married in 2000 and have three children: Holly, 16, Tilly, 14, and Chester, 11. The family live in a £3.2 million, eightbedroom home in East Sussex.

Earlier, former Big Brother presenter Davina, 50, shared an inspirational quote with her online followers: ‘Every morning we get a chance to be different. A chance to change. A chance to be better. Your past is your past. Leave it there. Get on with the future part.’

She added: ‘I really know about this one. I have made so many mistakes in my life. But there is always a new day.’

Davina previously talked about going to therapy with 48-year-old Robertson, a former TV host who worked on Pet Rescue and who now runs a travel company.

A source said: ‘This is a devastating time for Davina. She has been very open about how hard she has worked to save the marriage for so many years.

‘Eventually the time comes when you have to accept it’s not going to work and that’s where they’re at.

This is now all about looking after their children. The three of them are their priority in what will most certainly be a difficult time.’

The couple married at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire, and renewed their vows in Las Vegas in 2015. At the time she said: ‘When I think of Matthew and me in our 70s, I see us on a world cruise with entertainment every night.’

But she has admitted parenthood was tough, saying: ‘My God, when you have little kids and everyone’s arguing over who’s more tired. Life gets really full-on.’
