Awesome Alexandra’s giant step towards Strictly glory
ALEXANDRA Burke once duetted with Beyoncé in one of the defining moments of The X Factor.
But last night she had to be content with performing a risqué rumba to one of the megastar’s hits, as she took to the Strictly dancefloor.
The 29-year-old singer managed only a mid-table 32 points for her choreography to the ballad Halo – but still remains a front-runner to take the glitterball trophy.
Although she looked divine in a sequined dress, cut outrageously high on her thighs, she and dance partner Gorka Marquez, right, finished six points behind leaders Joe McFadden and Katya Jones, who scored an impressive 38 out of a possible 40.
Alexandra’s score was boosted by another seven points after winning the first ‘paso doble-thon’ in which all the couples danced headto-head. Joe and Katya picked up six for that dance.
Debbie McGee, 59, and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice scored 38 points for a stunning Argentine tango. Her fans included Dame Joan Collins, who tweeted: ‘That was the best Argentine tango I’ve seen.’
The pair added another five points to their tally from the paso doble, leaving them second on the leaderboard.
EastEnders star Davood Ghadami and Nadiya Bychkova are third, while bringing up the rear are Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton, despite providing some of the biggest smiles of the night.
