Boxer Amir’s wife:I still think he is a knockout

-

THEY spent a torrid summer accusing each other of all sorts of shenanigans, but I can now reveal that boxer and I’m A Celebrity star Amir Khan has found a surprising supporter in his corner – his wife Faryal.

Despite all the turmoil, Faryal has told me Amir is a ‘good guy’ and that she is rooting for him to be crowned king of the jungle.

Faryal, 26, broke her silence on their fraught relationship when we met up last week. ‘He’s a good, good guy and I’m glad he’s on TV so people can see the real side of him,’ she said. ‘We all do stupid things, but sometimes people judge you without knowing you.’

Khan has been involved in a long-running feud with the family of his pregnant wife. He said the couple were on the verge of divorce when he accused her of having an affair with heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua earlier this year.

Amir, a former world champion himself, later apologised, revealing there was ‘no truth’ to the claim. The pair reconciled shortly before he joined the show.

As rumours of his own infidelities have widely circulated, some might say Amir deserves his ordeals with the creepy-crawlies on I’m A Celebrity. And viewers certainly seem to have enjoyed making him perform bushtucker trials with snakes and critters. Before crawling through 50 spiders, the boxer cried: ‘Man don’t like spiders’ – much to the amusement of presenters Ant and Dec.

Faryal assured me that his fears are real: ‘He’s very strong in the boxing ring, but not so good when it comes to insects. He is really scared of them, so I’m proud he did well.’

After all their troubles, Faryal would not say if she missed Amir: ‘So much has happened in life, I don’t miss anyone or anything any more.’
