O’Hara hails the Allan effect

- By Fraser Mackie

MARK O’HARA has singled out the return of Scott Allan as the key to Dundee motoring up the Ladbrokes Premiership table. Allan, making only his second substitute appearance since September, provided the assist for O’Hara’s winner on Friday night. O’Hara was once again the scourge of Rangers — his second-half double taking his tally to four goals in three starts against the Ibrox side.

The 21-year-old was the toast of Dens Park after a victory he claimed could ‘turn the tide’ of their struggling season.

And with on-loan Celtic midfielder Allan now clear of a groin problem after surgery, O’Hara believes the missing link of Neil McCann’s side can now slot into place.

‘You could see Scott’s quality in his assist, so it’s brilliant to have him back,’ said O’Hara (far left, with Allan). ‘He’s had a hard time of it with injuries over the last couple of months.

‘But he’s going to be an asset to the team in the coming weeks.

‘It’s great to know when you make runs that somebody is going to pick it out. He has done that over the years.

‘He plays the killer pass — something we’ve been lacking. We’ve been playing good football but there hasn’t been penetration. That killer ball is Scott’s game.’

O’Hara’s two goals — either side of a Josh Windass reply — lifted Dundee above Partick and into 11th place.

‘It’s a massive win for us,’ he said.
