Broadchurch star Olivia Colman was cast as The Queen in Netflix’s The Crown she may have believed that – daunting though the role may be – there would be no awkward sex scenes.

Not so. I hear writer Peter Morgan is merrily preparing some raunchy antics for his TV monarch, who will be in her mid40s when the third series starts.

Says my source: ‘Peter has been writing sex scenes but people in the production team aren’t so sure about them.’

Last week I revealed that Peter is desperate to write a script with more thrills. He said: ‘I dream of writing violence and profanity.’

Hugh Laurie, 58, is tipped to play Philip to Olivia’s Elizabeth.

A spokesman for Morgan said, ‘The scripts are still being written, production is still a way off.’
