Anyone for... polo? Meghan has a ball with her pal Serena
SHE’D turned up to watch her new husband play polo with his brother, but the Duchess of Sussex seemed more interested in other ball games in the sunshine at Ascot yesterday. The ever-playful Meghan – wearing a natty Panama hat and £300 sleeveless gingham frock by Shoshanna – rolled a mini football to a young girl as she kept the child amused in the searing 28C heat. The Duchess, 36, was also accompanied by her good friends Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian, who both attended the Royal Wedding at Windsor Castle in May. Princes Harry and William were taking part in the Audi Polo Challenge match at the exclusive Coworth Park Polo Club. Harry and Meghan made their first appearance as a couple when they attended the same event in May last year where they were spotted embracing in the car park. Miss Williams – who had a daughter Alexis last September – is due to play at Wimbledon tomorrow. She had been expected to talk to the press at SW19 yesterday, but instead rescheduled to go to the charity polo. The 36-year-old has won Wimbledon a record seven times. Her much anticipated return is a big deal for tournament chiefs and her broadcast and press interviews ahead of the competition, which starts tomorrow, would have been a key part of their publicity drive. A Wimbledon spokesman declined to comment on the star’s decision to attend the polo but said she was expected to give interviews today.
