The birthday belle puts her troubles aside

- By Andrew Young and Jonathan Bucks

SHE’S endured a torrid time lately with her father and half-sister publicly lambasting her for cutting them off.

But if any of that has affected the Duchess of Sussex’s mood, there was precious little sign of it yesterday.

Meghan – celebrating her 37th birthday – flashed smile after dazzling smile as she joined Prince Harry at the wedding of one of his best friends.

Wearing a chic £400 dress by Club Monaco, she looked in high spirits as Charlie van Straubenzee, 30 – an usher at her own wedding earlier this summer – tied the knot with video maker Daisy Jenks, 27, in Frensham, Surrey.

Cheering villagers burst into a rendition of Happy Birthday as she made her way into the 13th Century church of St Mary the Virgin to join Harry who had arrived earlier with the ushers.

The couple emerged afterwards together, affectionately holding hands. Harry, 33, became close to Mr Straubenzee when they were at Ludgrove Prep School in Berkshire and was believed to have been best man yesterday. Other guests included Princess Eugenie and her fiance Jack Brooksbank – who are due to marry at Windsor Castle on October 12.

Last week Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, told The Mail on Sunday that his daughter had cut him out of her life. Meanwhile, her estranged halfsister Samantha Markle has accused her of being ‘cold’ to the family.
