Klopp unveiled as Reds boss in charity game

-

CELTIC idol Stiliyan Petrov has unveiled a box-office addition to his ‘Match For Cancer’ at Parkhead, confirming that Jurgen Klopp will take charge of a Liverpool legends team on Saturday, September 8.

The Reds squad for the huge charity fund-raiser is being assembled by James Milner, the Bulgarian’s great friend from their days as Aston Villa team-mates.

Petrov, who has picked a star-studded Celtic squad, said: ‘His team will be managed by Jurgen Klopp, so you can see we have been working hard! When we tell people about the cause, they say yes right away. People still talk about my game in 2013 and I hope we can create another atmosphere like that and raise a lot of funds.’

If Brendan Rodgers is in the Celtic dugout, then that will pitch the current Reds boss up against his Anfield predecessor — all in the name of helping Celtic FC Foundation, The Stiliyan Petrov Foundation and The James Milner Foundation.

Petrov, who has battled leukaemia since being diagnosed in 2012, teased the prospect of Steven Gerrard being represented on the Liverpool side one week on from his first visit to Celtic Park as Rangers boss.

‘He is invited, the invitation is there and he is welcome,’ said Petrov. ‘When James comes to announce his team, you will see.’

Tickets for A Match For Cancer, sponsored by Dafabet, are on general sale price at £14 for adults and £6 for concessions online at www.celticfc.net, by calling 0871 226 1888 or visiting the Celtic Ticket Office.
