Class war as Jose takes swipe at City over their fly-on-the-wall antics
JOSE MOURINHO has taken a major swipe at Manchester City, accusing them of lacking class, following the release of their new fly-on-the-wall documentary that paints the Manchester United manager in an unflattering light.
Mourinho is furious he is frequently mentioned in the eightpart show All Or Nothing, promoted as giving the inside track on City’s titlewinning 2017/18 season, and that the film features clips of his press conferences, including one when he was Kevin De Bruyne’s manager at Chelsea.
‘I know a few things about the movie. You don’t need to be disrespectful to have a fantastic movie. My first reaction is if you are a rich club you can buy top players, you cannot buy class,’ said Mourinho (above).
‘The second reaction is because I am in the movie I could ask for royalties. You know, a movie without me doesn’t sell much. I needed to be there.’
Mourinho has been fully-briefed about the series which was released by Amazon Prime on Friday. Amazon paid City £10million for unique filming access throughout last season including Pep Guardiola delivering messages to his players in the dressing room.
Mourinho will hope turning attention on City’s morals will help unify his own club after a difficult start to the season in which United failed to sign a defender and captain Paul Pogba said he’d be ‘fined’ if he spoke openly about how he felt.
Pogba will again lead United at Brighton today, with Mourinho stating he’s ‘never been happier’ with the form of his French World Cup winner.
