LIVID LENNON DISHES OUT BIG WARNING TO KAMBERI

- By James Melville

NEIL LENNON has warned misfiring Florian Kamberi that he is playing for his future after launching a blistering attack on the ‘sloppy’ striker.

The Hibernian boss is adamant his patience has finally run out with the 23year-old, who climbed from the bench against Livingston at half-time yesterday and proceeded to miss a crucial penalty kick in pitiful fashion.

Indeed, Kamberi has found the net just once in his last nine games and Lennon is adamant he has not been pulling his weight, prompting the Northern Irishman to consider the prospect of replacing him in the transfer window next month.

‘I can always change it the way I did last season when I got rid of Anthony Stokes and Simon Murray,’ he said candidly. ‘The Livingston goal comes from Kamberi giving the ball away and falling on his backside. He did that a lot.

‘I don’t know if it’s a confidence thing or a lack of application but he’s nowhere near as hungry as he was last season.

‘He’s not working hard enough and the point isn’t hitting home. The penalty is sloppy.

‘This is a criticism but we’ve been sitting on this for weeks and we’re getting no response from him. We’ve been talking to him in private for a long time.

‘It’s his all-round work rate which isn’t there. (Dolly) Menga does it for Livingston. (Alfredo) Morelos does it for Rangers. If you aren’t scoring goals, then you need to bring something else to the team.

‘If you aren’t doing that, then we are a man down and that’s just not acceptable any more.’

The criticism was not confined to Kamberi, Lennon adding: ‘Some of the players need to have a good look at themselves. I’m not happy with my strikers. Lewis Allan is the exception. I thought he did well.

‘The rest of them aren’t performing, are not applying themselves and are not working hard enough.’
