Three easy routines I swear by

-

AS YOU know, I think Hinching little and often is best. I know people think I clean all day every day, but I don’t – I keep on top of it so half an hour to an hour each day is all I need to do. Here are three of my favourite routines. HINCH HALF HOUR

MY FAVOURITE thing is the Hinch half-hour. I’ll write a list of what I would ideally like to get done, set a timer on my phone and I’m good to go.

There’s nothing quite like that feeling when you can cross something off your list – it definitely motivates me to keep going.

I’m like a whirlwind. If I check my timer and I still have some time left to do more jobs, I’ll add a couple of cheeky things to my list just to give myself that extra spring in my step.

And if I get to the end of those jobs and still have a few seconds to spare? I’m a happy lady.

THE CLOCKWISE CLEAN

THE beauty of the clockwise clean is that you don’t miss anything, and you don’t feel it’s all too overwhelming. Sometimes when you walk into a room you can think ‘There’s too much to do in here, I’m never going to finish it’ and walk out.

But if you walk into a room with your cleaning basket full of your favourite must-haves, start to your left (that’s your 12 o’clock), work your way around the room (1, 2, 3 o’clock), and end up back where you started. Having circled the room, you know it’s all been taken care of.

I don’t care if it’s tragic – I get so excited when I’m near the end. It’s great to have that finishing point.

FRESH’N UP FRIDAY

MY PERFECT Friday night in would be me, Jamie and Henry the dog sitting on the sofa under a huge blanket waiting for our favourite Chinese takeaway to be delivered.

But whether you’re having a night in or a night out, there’s no better feeling than knowing your house is freshly Hinched. And a Fresh’n Up Friday clean will give you the opportunity to have a lazy Saturday – which we all need from time to time.

This is how I go about it: simply go around every room in the house and write down three things in each room you would like to get done.

Once you’ve got your list, take it round the house with you and tick it off as you go.
