2 The oven

-

I DON’T have Jamie Oliver quaking in his boots when it comes to cooking. But that doesn’t mean I don’t give it a go sometimes, so my oven does need cleaning regularly.

Take the oven racks out, fill the sink with warm soapy water, spray with Fairy Power spray – fab for removing grease spills – and leave to soak.

I start by using an old dry paintbrush to brush away any crumbs that may have fallen into crevices – my mum swears by it!

You’ll then need to use something more abrasive. I use The Pink Stuff – although the Astonish range of oven- paste cleaners are also fab – and start working the paste into the stubborn spots with a tough scouring sponge (baking soda spritzed with white vinegar and left for 20 minutes also works).

Once the stubborn spots have been removed or loosened, rinse and wipe away with a cloth and a bowl of warm water mixed with Fairy Platinum. I advise an oven/hob scraper for those tougher burnt-on stains.

Now rub your racks with a tough sponge and stubborn marks should wipe away. Don’t forget to dry the rubber door seal with some kitchen roll too – that builds up dirt like you wouldn’t believe.

Spray the outside of your oven door with a germ killer and disinfectant spray and wipe away. Then spray your glass door with glass cleaner and buff with some dry kitchen roll or even Kermit.

That’s it! You’re ready to whip up a five-course gourmet meal (or stick a ready meal in).
