Boris and Farage’s bubbly bash – with two gorgeous girls

-

YOU wouldn’t have thought our top politicians had much time for making merry, what with the country teetering on the brink of chaos.

Yet I can reveal that Nigel Farage laid the foundations for a potentially crucial highstakes political pact with Boris Johnson – while guzzling champagne and raucously guffawing in one of London’s most exclusive nightclubs.

After the pair met at 5 Hertford Street in Mayfair, club owner Robin Birley escorted them to a secret room he reserves solely for the use of personally invited VVIPs. There, their encounter became a late-night bonding session with the two men delighting in each other’s company, slapping each other on the back.

Birley – the son of Lady Annabel Goldsmith – also brought two attractive young ladies from the main part of the club up to join them, to add a bit of glamour to the otherwise all-male gathering.

If they discussed weighty matters of state – like the much-rumoured electoral pact – during their boys’ night out, it seems to have come to nought as Boris has since ruled out a deal with the Brexit Party leader in no uncertain terms.

But my source described how cordial they were that night – and how the girls were drawn away from the older man they had been with, a hedge fund manager, to join them.

‘A very wealthy regular at the club was there with his attractive younger French cousin and her friend,’ the source said. ‘The girls had a toy dog with them and were in the downstairs bar when Robin came by. The gentleman introduced the ladies to Robin, who was polite but said he couldn’t stay because he was in the middle of entertaining two “very good friends” up in his private room.

‘Later Robin sent down for the girls. They laughed when they were told their dog was welcome too – but the member who brought them in seemingly wasn’t. They later told the regular that they had been gobsmacked to find Nigel and Boris were up there together quaffing expensive champagne. Nothing untoward happened, of course, but the very fact Nigel and Boris were there together has become the talk of 5 Hertford Street.’

My source said the encounter was a ‘recent’ one, though last night Downing Street sources said any meeting will have been ‘accidental’ and come before Boris became PM seven weeks ago.
