Records tumble as Tammy keeps up his red-hot streak

-

THE youngest player to score a Premier League hattrick since Raheem Sterling in 2015. The third player 21 years old or younger to have scored twice in three consecutive Premier League matches after Cristiano Ronaldo and Dele Alli. The youngest player to have scored a top-flight hat-trick for Chelsea. Tammy Abraham set a few records yesterday.

The forward scored a hattrick — and an own goal, the first player to do both in one Premier League match — as Frank Lampard’s side ran out 5-2 winners at Wolves.

An added bonus came in the form of Chelsea’s other scorers — Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount — also aged 21 and 20, respectively.

Of his fledgling squad, Lampard said: ‘I’m delighted for them all but particularly for Fikayo. Also Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount — we are trying to give chances to the youngsters and they are scoring, taking their chances and showing us why we should keep putting them in the team.’

Tomori put Chelsea ahead on the half-hour mark and Abraham fired a brace before the break to put the visitors 3-0 ahead.

The Englishman got his hat-trick 10 minutes into the second half, scoring his seventh league goal of the season after five games.

Abraham would then put through his own net on 69 minutes, before Patrick Cutrone grabbed Wolves’ second from close range.

Mount wrapped up the match in the last of six minutes of injury time.

A sublime first half proved enough for Tottenham as they ran out 4-0 winners at home to Crystal Palace.

Son Heung-min struck either side of Patrick van Aanholt’s own goal to put the hosts 3-0 ahead within 23 minutes before Erik Lamela had the final say just before the break.

Brighton were denied three points as Burnley substitute Jeff Hendrick struck in injury time to earn a 1-1 draw after Neal Maupay had earlier given the Seagulls the lead.

Moussa Djenepo netted as Southampton triumphed 1-0 at Sheffield United.
