Tory website a flop after sex drug hack

- By Georgia Edkins and Pamela Stott

OTHER than the occasional rousing speech, even die-hard party members would hesitate to describe the Scottish Tory conference as an exciting event.

But early birds trying to book tickets for this year’s gathering got more than they bargained for – after the party’s website fell victim to an unfortunate hack.

Members who followed a link to a booking page were redirected to a website advertising potent sexual performance enhancement drugs.

Shocked members who had hoped to purchase tickets for the event were instead sold the benefits of erectile dysfunction medication Cialis, pictured.

The drug, which is a brand name of tadalafil, is described on the website as a ‘much superior drug to Viagra’ as its effects last for 36 hours rather than four or five.

The makers of the yellow tablets also boast that it is ‘perfect for people who do not wish to arrange their sexual activities to a schedule’.

The page reads:

‘For instance, you can take it after breakfast and still be ready for intercourse in the evening or even the next morning.’

It goes on to tell how conferencegoers could bypass the NHS and buy tablets on the internet without a prescription.

Users can follow a link provided to an online pharmacy, where ten of the tablets can be bought for a little more than £20

The NHS only offers Cialis in ‘special circumstances’, according to its website.

A Scottish Conservative spokesman last night confirmed the party website had been hacked.

He said: ‘This was identified and action was taken immediately to remove the advert.

‘Sadly in this day and age this is something that can affect many websites.’

This year’s party conference, set to go ahead later this year, will be Jackson Carlaw’s first as leader.
