Supermodel Kirsty’s honeymoon in BOTHY
HER first marriage was celebrated in a blaze of glitz and glamour on the shores of a picturesque loch.
But, 23 years on, Kirsty Hume is planning a far lower key affair when she returns to Scotland this year to marry for a second time.
The 43-year-old model, who was the face of Chanel in the 90s, is arranging an intimate event for friends and family – followed by a honeymoon in a bothy.
Her forthcoming nuptials with chocolate magnate Frederick Schilling will be a far cry from her first wedding to Donovan Leitch, the son of Scots singing star Donovan, in Luss, on the shores of Loch Lomond.
While the 1997 ceremony was held at a local church, the reception was hosted at the grand Cameron House and boasted a star-studded guest list including supermodel Helena Christensen and film director
Sofia Coppola.
Back then, Miss Hume wore a statement medieval-style gown and styled her hair in long plaits. But the Ayrshire-born model has insisted that her wedding to Mr Schilling will be very different. She said: ‘It will be closest family and friends. Somewhere private.’
Their honeymoon will also be suitably down to earth, with Miss Hume adding: ‘We are thinking about just renting a bothy and being cosy.’
Miss Hume still models and appeared in Vogue alongside her 15year-old daughter, Violet, in 2018.
She filed for divorce from her first marriage in 2014 then began dating Mr Schilling around five years ago. Rumours the pair were to tie the knot were fuelled after she posted a on Instagram a picture of herself in a flowing designer wedding dress.
Both Miss Hume and Mr Schilling have shared their adoration for one another on social media, with the American entrepreneur writing: ‘I love this woman. So blessed to have her in my life. Like no other, I love you Kirsty’.
Their big day will be on June 20.
