LENNON INSISTS IT’S FULL TEAM AHEAD AS HE TARGETS TWO MORE TROPHIES

- By Fraser Mackie

NEIL LENNON won’t be resting any of his regulars in a ‘full-throttle’ approach to the rest of the season.

Yesterday was Celtic’s 15th game since the winter shutdown, with all midweeks up to this point occupied by Ladbrokes Premiership and Europa League dates.

There is an unwanted breather in the schedule leading up to next Sunday’s trip to Ibrox because of the shock European exit to Copenhagen.

Despite that void in the calendar from here on in, several of Lennon’s international players and captain Scott Brown remain on pace to clock up a 60-plus game season once again.

However, the durability of reliables like Callum McGregor and James

Forrest is not a matter of concern for Lennon as he closes in on a league title and tackling Aberdeen at Hampden in next month’s William

Hill Scottish Cup semi-final.

‘I’m not really worried about them,’ said the manager (below). ‘They’re showing no signs of their batteries running out at the moment.

‘Browny missed the Kilmarnock match and I think Callum has missed only two games all season.

‘Jamesie is one that you do have to keep an eye on a little bit with the volume of games and some of the hits that he takes.

‘But he bounces back and his form has been fantastic over the last month or so.

‘I want to go full throttle. I want to win the league and the cup. We’ve still got so much to play for.

‘You always need your important players to do that — and they are all important players here.

‘Everyone is talking about the league already being over — but I’m not. We must keep going until it’s mathematically impossible to get caught. We have to remain fully focused and play as well as we can.’

Unlike their hosts next Sunday, Celtic enjoy a clear run at the third Old Firm derby of the season.

‘If there’s any consolation of not being in Europe, it’s that the players get a bit more rest,’ said Lennon. ‘It has been a heavy schedule.

‘But I was bitterly disappointed to go out of Europe. We felt we could have made a decent fist of it.

‘We’ve bounced back quite well, though, with real aggression and intensity. I’m looking for more of that next weekend.

‘February was very hectic for us. But now we’re leading into the Rangers game and I want us to get the best build-up we can.

‘You can plan better and rest better with no game. Sometimes, however, you would like to have a game to keep the match rhythm going.’
