Lone Wolff is three in front

-

MATTHEW WOLFF seized control last night in the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Michigan.

American Wolff posted a superb third-round total of 64 to move three shots clear of countrymen Ryan Armour and the big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau. Irishman Seamus Power is five shots adrift along with American trio Chris Kirk, Mark Hubbard and Troy Merritt.

England’s Matt Wallace is enjoying a fine tournament. He’s part of a classy contingent six back on 13 under, alongside rising Norwegian star Viktor Hovland and last week’s PGA Tour winner Webb Simpson.

But this is Wolff’s tournament to lose. The 21-year-old from California broke his PGA Tour duck at the 3M Open last July, ironically narrowly beating today’s closest challenger DeChambeau.
