Just Obi-Wan cornetto!

Ice cream (and a Black Lives Matter T-shirt) as Ewan and new love smooch in the sun

- By Jane Wharton

HERE’S a scoop! Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor polishes off an ice cream before melting into the arms of his girlfriend in these touching pictures.

They were taken in an unseasonably warm New York last week, just days after the actor made headlines for unleashing a foulmouthed tirade at a paparazzi photographer who distracted him on set.

But the 49-year-old had certainly cooled down by the time he joined his partner Mary Elizabeth Winstead for a romantic stroll with their white Maltese dog, Ambrosius.

McGregor is in the Big Apple to film Simply Halston, a new Netflix mini-series in which he plays US celebrity fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick. But he was far from the world of haute couture as he was pictured wearing jeans, a purple beanie hat, black leather jacket and yellow Black Lives Matter T-shirt.

After demolishing his ice cream, the Perth-born actor turned his attention to his 35-year-old lover, even if their masks proved something of a barrier to intimacy.

The couple have been together since 2017 after they both appeared in the dark comedydrama Fargo. McGregor was still with Eve Mavrakis, his wife of 22 years, at the time and his eldest daughter Clara, now 24, subsequently described Ms Winstead as ‘a piece of trash’ on social media, although she later admitted that the remark had not been her ‘finest hour’.

The Trainspotting star recently said he abandoned social media at that time as he was ‘being bombarded with bulls*** from people who didn’t know me or anything about my life’. He added: ‘I just switched it off. I’ve never been more relieved.

I’ve got so much time back.’

Ms Winstead split from her director husband
