The Scottish Mail on Sunday

How was Netflix allowed to show such nonsense?

-

From what I read in The Mail on Sunday last week, I’m glad I haven’t seen the Netflix series The Crown. I cannot believe this fictional drama loosely based on the truth was allowed. Clearly because the Queen never complains, Netflix has taken advantage. Our Monarchy should be protected from such trash being made about them.

Stasha Martin, East Preston, West Sussex

I fail to understand why the latest series of The Crown has sparked such outrage. We all understand it is a fictionalised portrayal of our Royal Family.

Mary Gumsley, Birchington, Kent

The Queen was depicted as never smiling and having no sense of humour. This is far from the truth.

I was at receptions with her and she looked very happy all the time. My husband said something to her that made her burst out laughing.

Iris Reece, London

I was annoyed to see the Royals (privileged and unelected) making a mockery of Margaret Thatcher at Balmoral. She was the elected Prime Minister. They should have been doing everything to make her feel comfortable.

L. Lacey, Bristol

The Crown is screened by a US company, and America has always had a distorted view.

N. Green, North Yorkshire

I’ve never watched an episode of this tripe, nor do I want to.

J. Mitchell, Sheffield

I don’t understand how Netflix can be allowed to screen a show about people who are still living, without that person’s permission. The Royal Family should sue.

Carol Roberts, Phuket, Thailand

The Palace’s outrage is more about trying to hide their shame of the Royal Family’s affairs and the way Diana was treated.

Louise David, Derbyshire

The only two people who knew what happened in their marriage were Diana and

Prince Charles. Yet people believe The Crown is the gospel truth and will be gossiping with their friends as if they know the whole story. The reality is probably entirely different.

T. Robertson, Guernsey
