Celtic man Jack won’t rush decision on his future
JACK HENDRY has revealed he is in no rush to make a decision over his long-term future.
The 25-year-old defender is currently on loan from Celtic to Belgian club Oostende, whose executive president Gauthier Ganaye has expressed a desire to activate a buy-out option on him.
A fee of around £1.75 million has been agreed between the clubs but the deal needs the player’s consent to be formalised.
Hendry has flourished in the
Jupiler League but is content to leave the matter to one side for now. He said: ‘The chief exec and the club have made it known they want to activate that option.
‘So it’s a discussion between me, my representatives and the club as to what happens next.
‘I’m grateful to Oostende for the opportunity they have given me to get my confidence going and get games under my belt. They gave me the chance to get back on the pitch in my favoured position, in a system that suits me and allows me to express myself.
‘I haven’t had any discussions as yet. I’ll see how that goes.’
With a year still remaining on the deal Hendry signed when he joined Celtic from Dundee in 2018, it’s still possible that the centre-back could return to Glasgow in the summer.
Manager Neil Lennon’s position is precarious and, with restructuring expected this summer, the landscape could change at Parkhead.
‘It’s been an unfortunate season for Celtic,’ added Hendry. ‘But, hopefully, they can build on their recent results.
‘Once the season stops, I can make a decision based on what is best for my career.
‘I still have a lot to show to people. This season, I’ve shown my true ability and what I bring to a team.’
