Diana rued her decision – they will too
I agree with Penny Junor, who claimed last week that Harry and Meghan are going to regret this interview with Oprah Winfrey for the rest of their lives, just as Diana came to regret her Panorama interview with
Martin Bashir.

Diana and Meghan aren’t in the same situation.
Diana performed Royal duties for years and worked to build a reputation around the world. Meghan has barely tried to be a working member of the Royal Family. She hates the duties but still want the perks and privileges!

Penny Junor conveniently omitted to mention the interview that Prince Charles gave to Jonathan Dimbleby in 1994, which set the ball rolling for further Royal interviews.
Following that, Diana was persuaded to give her side of the story and gained even more sympathy and love here and worldwide. I do not believe that she made a mistake at all – she had been through hell but, fortunately, her strength of character was returning.

Diana was in a totally different position. She married Prince Charles and loved him but he loved someone else. And she lived like that in silence for years.

The only thing Diana may have regretted (if she were still alive) is that she wasn’t as strong as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Their determination to live their own lives as a loving family is heartening and brave. Los
Angeles’ gain is Britain’s loss.

Penny may well be right about them coming to regret this, but it’s too late now – the genie can’t be put back into the bottle. A. Freeman, Surrey
