What a Carrie on! YouTuber’s tears at SJP’s diva show

-

IT’S A modern-day tale that perfectly encapsulates the shifting sands of celebrity culture.

Sex And The City actress Sarah Jessica Parker must have assumed she could get away with putting on a diva-like display when she agreed to be interviewed by an up-and-coming social media star.

But popular YouTuber Laura Lee, 22, had no qualms about telling her five million followers about SJP’s ‘weird’ behaviour, which took place during a Facebook Live get-together and which left her on the verge of tears.

And now her superfans – who call themselves the Larlees – are furious with the actress, who famously plays Carrie Bradshaw on screen, and it sounds like they are itching for her to be cancelled.

In her video, called ‘The truth about the celebrities I have met – and how some experiences were NOT good’, Laura reveals: ‘So SJP comes in a little late… They had two acrylic chairs for us to sit together, and I sit down and she looked at me and goes, “Oh, I’m standing.” It was weird. I could tell that she didn’t want to be in there with me – it made me feel like I wanted to disappear and get out.’

In her frank video, which has been viewed 500,000 times on YouTube, she adds: ‘I stumble over my words sometimes, and I stumbled over one of them and she stopped and corrected me really quickly. I don’t think that she’s mean or a bad person – I don’t think I should have been interviewing her. So it wasn’t the best experience but it is what it is. ‘I’m a huge Sex And The City fan, but I’m not going to lie, when I left I kind of wanted to cry.’ Sure enough, a backlash quickly ensued, with huge numbers of fans coming out to support Laura.

One said: ‘It doesn’t matter if she was tired and you were just a YouTuber… that doesn’t mean it’s necessary to be dismissive. We’re all human, no one is above another. Love you Laura!’ Another wrote: ‘If she thought she was above doing an interview with you, that’s on HER!’

And a third fan told Laura: ‘Don’t make excuses for Sarah J Parker. Sounds rude.’

SJP’s offish behaviour has long been noted by her former Sex And The City co-star Kim Cattrall, who has refused to take part in any more spin-off shows to avoid having to work with her again.
