‘I was living in a mansion before you were born’... Sharon’s acid-tongued attack on Amanda in war of words over Cowell

THEY are stars of Saturday night TV – but their Saturday morning online cattiness is far more entertaining.

Britain’s Got Talent’s Amanda Holden sparked the spat with The X Factor’s Sharon Osbourne in the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine yesterday, branding her ‘bitter and pathetic’ for ‘dissing’ their boss, impresario Simon Cowell, to who she allegedly owes her celebrity.

Sharon, 71, saw the vitriol from LA when it was highlighted by MailOnline yesterday morning and hissed back, calling Amanda, 53, ‘sycophantic’.

She added: ‘Unlike you, the brand of Sharon Osbourne is known worldwide. There are many countries that I could work in if I choose to, however, I don’t have the ambition or time to do so.

‘Before you were born, I was living in a mansion in Beverly Hills and continue to do so today and continue to have my country estate in England as well.’

At her Cotswolds home yesterday, Amanda cackled with laughter at Sharon’s fury – and has told friends she ‘stands by every word’ of her attack.

The bickering began with Sharon and fellow The X Factor judge Louis Walsh scorning Cowell, 64, this year on Celebrity Big Brother – Walsh for his

apparent use of Botox and Sharon for allegedly not renewing a contract.

Amanda, a Britain’s Got Talent judge with Cowell since 2006, told Weekend magazine: ‘I hated seeing certain people in a reality show dissing Simon – he’s the person who’s given them all the chances, given them a lot of money and a lifestyle they probably wouldn’t have had. It’s bitter and pathetic. It was like Cinderella with her sisters in the background – just stabby, stabby, stabby.’

Sharon, a judge on The X Factor between 2004 and 2017, spat back on X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram from her £10million Beverly Hills mansion after she was alerted to Amanda’s attack in the early hours. In a dig at Amanda’s husband Chris Hughes, who used to represent Cowell at talent agency YMU, Sharon said: ‘I respect the fact that you feel the need to defend your good friend and employer, Simon Cowell, who is also your husband’s employer, or so I’ve read.

‘The truth is, you don’t know me, Amanda, or any of my close friends. You know nothing about my family history in the music industry, my achievements, the artists I have worked with, the shows I’ve produced and my global celebrity.’

She said she was paid more on The X Factor than Amanda got on Britain’s Got Talent – and her greater earnings went on expensive designer handbags. She added that Cowell ‘NEEDED ME for musical credibility on X Factor.’

A friend of Sharon’s added: ‘She thinks Amanda is a right madam and she isn’t scared to go back for more. There will only be one winner.’

So what will Cowell make of his TV ‘wives’ scrapping in public? ‘Oh, he will be absolutely bloody loving all of this,’ an insider said.
