‘City needs similar residential centre’
FOLLOWING the tragic death of Jonathan ‘Bazza’ Bailey and other local deaths due to suicide, is it now time to launch a fundraising campaign to open a centre like the Maytree organisation in Finsbury Park, London?
I once watched a documentary which showed the excellent work that is done there.
Opened in 2002, it provides an opportunity to be heard in a caring, safe environment.
Those who need the service are given a free four or fivenight stay so they can talk about how they feel.
There is no other non-medical residential place to stay like this in the UK, although they hope to open a second Maytree home in Manchester soon.
Is it now time for a local campaign to be launched to raise funds so that we can provide the same muchneeded service in Stoke-on-trent?
