FUNDRAISING IS NO TRIFLING MATTER FOR FRIENDS FAN ATTIAH

IT WAS the support of a family friend that encouraged 11-year-old Attiah Love Miah to take the plunge and enter the world of pageanting.

Attiah, from Blythe Bridge, loves her drama classes, and is even signed to a modelling agency in Kidsgrove.

However, taking part in Miss Teen Great Britain was a totally new experience for her.

But proud mum Lindsay Hedley, aged 33, says that she has loved the new experience, and she is due to compete in the final of the competition in October at The Globe in Blackpool.

Now Attiah has been nominated for an Our Heroes award in the Bright Young Thing category.

Lindsay said: “She absolutely loves pageanting. In March we took her to another show to show her what it would be like.

“She has made friends with the other contestants and it is just a great atmosphere. The mums are all so nice and they are always messaging me with advice and support, because it’s all very new to me, too.

“Attiah has had a tough time in the past with bullying, but this has really increased her confidence and she absolutely loves it.

“She has already got her life planned out and knows exactly what she wants to do now. She has told me she wants to do performing arts at university and then pursue a career in that industry.

“I’ve told her that she is our pension fund! She loves performing and has been making lots of Tiktoks in the garden during lockdown.”

Along with becoming a finalist in the competition, Attiah also completed a charity challenge to raise money for Together for Short Lives, a children’s charity.

The Friends fan decided to re-create and eat Rachel Green’s famous trifle from the TV show. This included the classic dessert ingredients of jam, custard and raspberries, along with the not so classic beef, peas and onions.

Lindsay said: “She loves I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here...!, so I suggested she could do some type of bushtucker trial, but we were watching Friends one day and she said that’s what she wanted to do. It was all her idea.

“She said it was absolutely awful and that it tasted like feet, which is what Ross said in the episode. We recorded a video and put it on Facebook so all our friends and family could watch it too.

“Afterwards she said she’s just going to stick to raffles to raise money in the future! She raised £370 for the charity, though, which was amazing. We are all so proud of her.”
