‘AGA WAS A BEAUTIFUL, CARING PERSON’
Cyclist dies after ‘hit and run’ crash
A WOMAN killed in a hit-and-run crash has been named locally as mum-of-three Agnieszka Pocz.
The care worker was knocked down in Hungerford Road, Crewe, on Monday morning as she was cycling to meet a client.
The 41-year-old, who had previously worked for Premier Care Ltd in the town, was rushed to nearby Leighton Hospital but later died of her injuries.
Two people, a 20-year-old Stokeon-trent man and an 18-year-old woman from Trent Vale, were arrested in connection with Agnieszka’s death and have since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Now relatives of Agnieszka, known as Aga and originally from Poland, have shared a picture of her with partner Marek Domino Kida, who she leaves behind along with their three children, aged between six and 14-years-old.
Friends have also paid tribute to a ‘beautiful and compassionate person’.
Premier Care Crewe posted on its Facebook page: “The management team are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our dear former colleague Agnieszka Pocz.
RIP sweetheart’. A Gofundme page has been set up in memory of Agnieszka and to help raise money for her funeral.
Friend Jo Puttnam set up the page on Wednesday and nearly £3,000 has been raised so far. She said: “I only set up the page at 5pm on Wednesday and we have been blown away by the donations.”
Jo said her friend would care for the elderly by visiting their homes on her bike and was on her way to one on the day she died.
The family are currently arranging Agnieszka’s funeral, with her mum and sister trying to arrange flights from Poland.
Jo said: “Aga was a lovely person. The family are trying to sort out the funeral so I wanted to help.
“Aga’s mum and sister are trying to come over but the flights are very expensive at the moment.”
The Go Fund Me page reads: “Agnieszka’s life was tragically cut short on September 14 when she was knocked off her bike while working as a carer in Crewe.
“She was taken to hospital but unfortunately passed away. Aga was a beautiful, caring and compassionate person who loved her job and her family.
“The loss of her life has left a huge hole in the community and will affect many people.
“I would like to raise her family some money to help with their financial needs at this awful time.”
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Sadly it has now been confirmed that a 41-yearold woman died as a result of this incident.
“Her next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.”
