NINE Stokies celebrated over the weekend – after winning an amazing £30,000 each on the People’s Postcode Lottery .

Their postcode – in the Birches Head area of the city – was announced as a winner yesterday, bringing a total of £270,000 to their street.

The winners found out how much they’d won over video calls with People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson.

Travel agent, Lucie Colton, aged 40, was at work when Danyl called her – and there were screams all around the office when he revealed her £30,000 cheque.

Lucie said: “That’s a lot of money! Oh my God. £30,000! Have you definitely got the right person?!

“My heart feels like it’s beating out of my chest.”

Lucie says she plans to use the money to buy a house, but also splash out on a holiday.

She said: “It’s going to go on a deposit on a house as we rent at the moment. I’ve been married for six years and we’ve rented the whole time.

“We’ll probably go somewhere nice on holiday too. I’m not too sure where yet, it depends where we’re allowed to go!

“I can’t wait to tell my husband. He works away so I’ll need to wait until he’s on a break and call him. He won’t believe me!”

“Things like this just don’t happen to me… ever!”

The winner postcode – ST1 2LT – is Moston Street, Birches Head.

Mum of two, Alex Mayer, aged 32 , was another excited winner.

With a seven-month-old baby and a two-year-old, the win has come at a great time for her.

She said: “Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m overwhelmed I don’t know what to say. I’ve never won anything.

“I’ve just moved so I need do some house improvements. I’m also on maternity leave so I’ll be buying some baby stuff. George is only seven months old, he’s teething just now.”

Alex has been playing People’s Postcode Lottery for four years, but has only played at her current address for one month.

She said: “I can’t believe it! It doesn’t feel real. I still don’t believe it, talking to you.”

And delivery driver John Adamson, aged 50, had to pull over in his van to take the video call from Danyl.

When he saw the cheque, he said: “No! No way! That is fantastic. That has just sorted my life out. I was going to be happy with a couple of quid! This is going to make everyone a lot happier in my postcode.”

John says he will use the cash to treat his wife and son, as well as make the most of his holiday next year.

He said: “I’m working so many hours at the moment so I can start relaxing now. It’s just eased my mind.

“I’m going to buy my missus a new car. She has an old battered car at the moment. She will want a shopping trip too! I think I’ll help my son pay his car off too.

“I’m off to Florida next year too so this is just brilliant. I needed spending money so that’s that covered.”

When asked how he would be celebrating John said: “My son is coming round tonight so I might have a couple of drinks, but can’t have too many as I need to drive tomorrow!”

Another winner Jenna Gray, aged 25, is an office worker. She was shocked when she found out how much she had won.

She said: “Oh my God! That’s amazing. I’m speechless. It doesn’t feel real. I never thought my postcode would come up!”

Jenna wants to use the money to help her family move to a new house, but she thinks her daughter will have a different idea.

She said: “The plan was in the next 12 to 18 months that we’d look at moving so this might bring it forward. My seven-year-old daughter will have other plans though. She has just started riding lessons so a pony will be on her agenda!”

Other winners included Alison Owen, aged 54, Stacie Fallows, aged 28, and 72-year-old Christine Legge.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Danyl said: “Wow, what a great bunch of winners! It was great to chat to so many of them and find out how they will be treating themselves with an extra £30,000.”
