GO WILD IN THE AISLES ONCE MORE!

Supermarket reopens after a Covid makeover

A SUPERMARKET has reopened its newly-refurbished store with added Covid-19 safety measures.

Aldi, in Victoria Road, Fenton, was closed for a week-long revamp to improve the aisles and shopping experience.

The store reopened at 8am yesterday, with shoppers grabbing their trollies eager to check it out.

On entering, there is a traffic light system, inset left, with green for ‘go’, and red indicating that the store is at full capacity, asking customers to wait for the green light.

Inside there is a sanitising station, new fixtures and fittings making products easier to see, and wider aisles to aid social distancing.

The store also has floor markers reminding shoppers to maintain a distance from other people in the shop. It also now has a dedicated British meat section, as well as overhead lights on the Lacura health and beauty products to make it easier to find your favourite product.

Customers can take advantage of Aldi’s Specialbuys, which are available every Thursday and Sunday.

And bread and baked goods have been relocated to the final aisle to prevent products getting squashed in shopping trollies before heading to the tills.

Store manager Nick Hopwood, from Mow Cop, said: “We’ve had a full refit with fixtures and fittings and the response we’ve had so far has been really positive, which is exciting.

“There’s so much more space and the green light system helps limit the number of people in the store at a time which is great in these times.”

The new-look store – which has 97 parking spaces – will be open 8am-10pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
