THEME PARK’S SCARE TACTICS
Attraction given a 2020 upgrade
ALTON Towers Scarefest launches its terrifying Halloween experience this weekend – with strict Covid safety measures in place.
The scary, but safe attractions are set to shock thrillseekers, leaving them with ‘nowhere to hide’.
Scare experts have reimagined the spooky event for the outdoors – increasing the size of the scare mazes for extra distancing.
Professional scare actors will be lurking in the maze to terrify those who dare venture inside – but have worked on new jump scares without needing to be up close.
Chris Carter, head of entertainments and scares, said: “When designing this year’s Scarefest we have adopted tried and tested safety methods that we have successfully implemented on our rides and attractions since opening in July.
“While the experience will be different to previous years, we are confident it will be equally intense while being safe. We are really pleased with the results and know the experience will be equally intense.”
Scarefest is set to play on people’s biggest fears, and will still be a terrifying experience for those brave enough to visit.
Chris added: “Scarefest is built around the knowledge that different people are scared of different things and in different ways, whether that’s a fear of the unknown, a specific character such as a clown, or the reaction and anticipation of being made to suddenly jump.
“Simply taking someone out of a familiar environment and into a fantastical world, like Scarefest, instantly makes people unnerved, so there is lots of scope to make changes to what we do and still achieve the ultimate fear factor.”
