Mum’s decor is a big hit on Instagram

- Bethan Shufflebotham

THE ups and downs of buying a house have helped mum-of-one Kirsty Tullet to rack up thousands of followers on Instagram.

Kirsty picked out her Loggerheads home in January 2020 and moved into the property in May.

She documented the story of her purchase after Covid-19 caused setbacks to a moving date, delaying it by almost two months.

Her Instagram account ‘Life in Loggerheads’ (life_in_loggerheads_ no_16), has more than 9,000 followers checking out her interior design and homeware. She even has an Emma Bridgewater kettle.

Kirsty lives in the four-bedroom detached Elan home with her husband Mitch, and one-year-old daughter Grace.

She said: “I’m on social media a lot and have my normal personal accounts but started a home account in January and quickly gained a lot of followers. It’s just a hobby I like to do daily but companies now send me things to promote their businesses.”

Kirsty is part of a growing trend of home buyers sharing their experiences online.

Research by the Home Builders Federation found one in six Brits would be more likely to update their Instagram followers about their move if they were buying a new-build home instead of a property that had been lived in.

The family previously lived in a twobed Burslem home, but were looking for somewhere bigger when they spotted the Elan developments.

Kirsty said: “We have a one-yearold daughter who’s started to crawl so knew we definitely wanted a new-build we could move into and everything was done for us, without having to worry about repairs or renovations.

“We looked at so many different new-builds before we saw the Elan homes online and then went to view the show home. The build quality was the best we had seen from all the new builds we viewed, which was why we chose Elan.”

Kirsty has been sharing updates on Instagram including choosing their tiles, carpets and the finish of the kitchen, their first visit look inside their home, and bargain purchases.

Their cosy cream and duck egg blue bedroom is furnished with a big chunky arm knit blanket with beautiful finishing touches like K & M artwork.

Each photo Kirsty posts racks up more than 300 likes.
