SHOCKED car owner Muhammed Iqbal has been left with a repair bill of ‘thousands’ – after his £32,000 Toyota Prius was hit by what could have been a stolen vehicle.

Muhammed, aged 32, found the damaged vehicle outside his home in Chell Green Avenue, Chell on the morning of October 4.

Extensive damage was caused to the fog lights, bumper, rear lights and wing. It is currently in a garage.

Muhammed said: “I woke around 10am, opened the curtains and I could see the car damaged, I was shocked.

“The car that hit it must have been doing 60-70mph while turning into the road. It’s going to cost thousands to get it

repaired. The car wasn’t even a year old, it was brand new and I had looked after it like a baby. I will not keep it which makes me feel very sad.”

He says he called the police on the morning of October 4.

He said: “The police said there is no registration number for the car so they couldn’t do anything unless I had witnesses or CCTV.

“One of the neighbours told me they heard a bang around 1am and then another one rang me and said she got CCTV.

“She looked at the CCTV and said she could see a Ford Focus going at very high speed.”

Staffordshire Police are looking into the case. A spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.25am on October 4 to reports that a Ford Focus had been stolen from Macclesfield Street, Burslem.

“The vehicle was found abandoned on Pitt Street East in Burslem and it is believed the vehicle had struck three vehicles.

“We were also called to reports that a Toyota had received extensive damage after being struck by a car on Chell Green Avenue in Chell.

“Officers are establishing whether the two incidents are connected.”
