Workers needed for retailer’s warehouse

UP to 150 jobs are up for grabs at fashion retailer New Look.

The high street brand is currently recruiting for between 100 and 150 warehouse operatives to work at its distributi­on centre on Lymedale Business Park, in Newcastle, in the run-up to Christmas.

Temporary roles are now being advertised for ‘motivated’ warehouse operatives to work 38.5 hours a week on day or night shifts during peak trading time.

They will be responsibl­e for a variety of warehouse duties including receiving, processing, picking, packing, dispatchin­g and loading stock to be delivered to New Look stores and online customers during the festive season.

Previous experience of working

in a warehouse is not required as full training will be given, however, applicants must be over the age of 18.

A spokesman for New Look said: “We are recruiting 100 to 150 warehouse operatives to join us through peak season. Applicants must be aged 18 and over, but no experience is required.”

Hourly pay is £8.72 but ut can rise to £10.23 an hour with the company’s ‘performanc­e-related pay’ scheme. Nights allowance is paid at an extra £1.93 for hours worked between 10pm and 6am.

Staff benefits include New Look discounts of up to 40 per cent for employees and 25 per cent for family and friends.

Alun Rogers, Rogers chairman of the Stoke-on-trent and Staffordsh­ire Local Enterprise Partnershi­p (LEP), said: “While these may well be temporary jobs, they will make a real difference to those filling the positions and their families.”
