TROUBLED Jake Anderson breached a court order within days of it being made.

The 30-year-old was made the subject of a non-molestation order at Stoke-on-trent Family Court on October 28.

It prevented him contacting his ex-partner or going to her home. But in November and December he breached the order by:

■ Contacting her on social media;

■ Bombarding her with calls and texts;

■ Attending her home and banging on her door;

■ Making threats to her and loitering about.

Now Anderson has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Stoke-on-trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Raj Punia said: “He breached the non-molestation order by making many telephone calls and sending texts.

“The calls and texts were nonthreatening.

“On December 17 she received five calls and two texts. She received some messages on December 18 and the next day she received 27 calls from the defendant from 12.43am to 7.28pm and 10 texts.”

Anderson was arrested and interviewed on January 9.

In a statement his victim described being scared and frightened by his actions.

But she said she does not think a prison sentence will help him and she would like to see him receive help for his issues.

She said he is a different person when taking drugs. She added: “I honestly believe with the right help he could turn his life around.”

Anderson, of Tiverton Road, Berryhill, pleaded guilty to five charges of breaching a nonmolestation order.

Jason Holt, mitigating, said the victim is supportive of Anderson.

Mr Holt said: “The defendant acknowledges there are a number of bridges to build if the relationship is to survive.”

As part of the order Anderson must complete a Building Better Relationships programme, a rehabilitation activity requirement for 35 days and a four month curfew from 9pm to 6am.

Judge David Fletcher told Anderson: “The problems occurred through your inability to react appropriately to stresses and strains. It often resulted in you resorting to the use of substances which have changed you. When the help is there for you grab it with both hands.

“This is a chance for you to put this sort of behaviour well and truly behind you.”
