A SISTER has recalled the horrific moment her 28-year-old brother hanged himself on a live video call with herself and his ex-partner.

Diana Zeilisa rushed to Viktors Zeiliss’ Dresden home after realising what was happening.

But it was too late and he was pronounced dead by paramedics just four days after Christmas.

An inquest has heard that the warehouse worker had no history of mental illness. His parents had died within a week of each other.

At the inquest, Diana said: “I saw Viktors hanging himself. I started to run to his house as it was not far away from my house. When I got into the living room I saw the police there.”

Diana added: “A few days before Christmas he had stopped going to work. I went to see Viktors twice to give him some food.

“He was talking about getting off the beer because he had a good relationship with his boss and wanted to get back to work. We had a good relationship.”

Viktors’ ex-partner had called the emergency services.

Police smashed their way into the Cromartie Street property.

A police officer, who was called to the scene, said: “The information passed from the police control room was that a man had been seen on a live video call to his ex-partner to be hanging himself.”

North Staffordshire assistant coroner Sarah Murphy has ruled that Viktors committed suicide.

She said: “His ex-partner contacted the police stating that he was trying to hang himself at his home address.

“Viktors Zeiliss was found by the police. It followed a call from an expartner who had seen a live video call of him attempting to hang himself.

“I do find that this was an intention to end life. Therefore the conclusion I am going to record is one of suicide.”

She added: “I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family for the very sad death of Viktors Zeiliss.”
