AN ARTS company is shedding new light on the city with five short films.

B Arts has produced the clips for a project called Tomorrow’s Garden.

The films – featuring artists, performers and poets – ask: ‘What will you leave behind, and what will you take with you?.’

They combine the heritage of Stoke-ontrent with ambitious light installations.

Lead artist Richard Redwin said: “Tomorrow’s Garden was originally an event planned for January of this year, but we’ve been forced to adapt and it’s become a five-part film series, featuring all the same ideas, performers and artists.

“It’s about the journey we’ve all been on over the last year – about the things we’d rather leave in the past and the things we’ve learned and want to carry with us into the future, set in a magical version of Stoke-upontrent.”

The project is part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone for Stoke.

B Arts, based in Hartshill, has been working with ASHA, Brighter Futures and the Space to Connect Advisory Group.

Creative engagement worker Kath Walton said: “The really special thing is how we’ve been able to involve participants in co-creating the work despite the restrictions of the lockdown.

“We’ve been delivering materials and running regular artist-led online workshops with participants from Brighter Futures, ASHA and Space to Connect for the last six months.

“We’ve been doing everything from lantern making, paper cuts, collaging, poetry and seed bomb making.”

The first film is available to watch now.

The other four episodes will be released over the next four Wednesdays.
