AGROWING accountancy firm has relocated to a new premises after making two acquisitions in as many years.

Alextra Accountants has moved out of the Genesis Centre, in Tunstall, to The Drayton Beaumont Building, in Merrial Street, Newcastle.

The company has moved into the new office after enjoying ‘significant growth’ in recent years following the acquisitions of fellow accountancy businesses JSW Accountancy Services and The Davison Partnership in 2019 and 2020.

It has also seen an increase in business over the last 12 months after the pandemic highlighted the need for accountants to assist with the range of Government incentives introduced for businesses amid Covid-19.

Director Ian Biddington said: “Once we’d made the acquisitions, it was always our plan to establish a town centre base.

“Our new building is owned by one of our clients, it’s in a great location and it’s been fantastic for us to be able to come back to our roots, as four of the five directors were born in the city.

“Over the last 12 months we have been really busy. We got ourselves onto a hosted network just before lockdown so the team was able to work from home straight away with no issues.

“We have managed to grow through lockdown, our numbers are increasing and we are confident that will continue.

“The pandemic has shown businesses that, during these challenging times, having an accountant is more important than ever.”

Alextra Accountants specialise in all aspects of accountancy including audits, bookkeeping, payroll solutions, R&D and tax.

It works with a range of clients based across Staffordshire and Cheshire, including sole traders, limited companies and contractors.

The company currently employs in excess of 50 staff across two offices in Newcastle and at Macon Court, Crewe – these offices are also home to its sister business, Alextra Wealth Management. The company hopes to create more jobs in the near future. Director Shawn Gallimore said: “Our client base is growing but we want to build on that now we have a base in the town centre. “Our plan for when restrictions are lifted, and in the coming years, will include hosting networking events and breakfast mornings now we have the space to do so.

“We are really close to pubs, shops, restaurants and other businesses so we are keen to make ourselves known to our new neighbours. There are relationships to be forged and we are looking forward to getting to know everyone once things start getting back to normal.”
