ALTON TOWERS WILL KICK-OFF ITS SUMMER SEASON WITH A NEW MARDI GRAS CARNIVAL
Events programme released as theme park gets set to return
ALTON Towers has revealed it is planning to host a series of celebrations and entertainment this year after the resort welcomes back guests next month.
The theme park has announced that it will be introducing a brand new Mardis Gras celebration that will kick off its programme of events in the summer.
The carnival-themed event will take place between May 22 and June 20, and will feature an explosion of colours, sounds and high energy entertainment.
Fan favourites such as Scarefest and Oktoberfest will also be returning to the theme park this year.
And this season will see the arrival of three retro-inspired, pop-up outdoor rides for guests to enjoy that will provide a thrilling trip down memory lane.
Under the Prime Minister’s roadmap out of lockdown, during stage two – starting on April 12 – zoos, theme parks and drive-in cinemas can reopen, and Alton Towers is already preparing to welcome back guests.
Chris Carter, events and entertainments director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “This year we are planning to host ongoing fun and thrills for families and thrillseekers throughout the season.
“We are excited to be able to offer something brand new for our guests, as well as stage the return of our popular Oktoberfest, Halloween celebrations and awesome fireworks show.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming our guests back to the resort.
“We’ve got a team of essential workers currently on site preparing for reopening to ensure we create a safe, memorable, exciting and family-friendly atmosphere that our guests know and love.”
Alton Towers has implemented a wide range of measures to help ensure social distancing and good hygiene whilst guests enjoy a fun day out, including enhanced cleaning regimes,, temperature checks and mask wearing on rides and attractions for those aged over 11 years (unless medically exempt).
In addition, the theme park will be operating on a reduced capacity to aid social distancing, and all guests are required to prebook.
