‘PLEASE, PLEASE HELP US GET PRU’S BIKE BACK FOR HER’

Owner left heartbroken after thieves take late father’s last gift

HEARTBROKEN Prudence Goodall is hoping someone can reunite her with the stolen £1,200 bike that was the last gift from her late father.

The 32-year-old, of Alsager, was given the Pendleton electric bike by her dad Phil shortly before he died suddenly following a brain haemorrhage in August 2019.

Its loss has also left her without her only means of transport and facing a twoand-a-half-mile walk to work at One Sure Insurance, in Butt Lane, each day.

She had left it in the company’s compound, from where it was stolen on Monday. CCTV footage shows a group of male youths taking the bike at 11.30am, about an hour after they had been hanging around the area.

Police are investigating and the insurance company is offering a £200 reward for information leading to the return of the bike.

Prudence was too upset to speak to The Sentinel about the incident, but her mother Ruth Horsley told how the theft had affected her.

Ruth, of Alsagers Bank, said: “It had a great deal of sentimental value to her. It was worth around £1,200, but it’s the sentimental value which is the most important thing. It’s why she is so desperate to get it back.

“Pru doesn’t drive so the bike was her only way of getting to and from work every day. Since it was stolen she’s had to walk twoand-a-half miles to work.

“The CCTV shows a group of lads on bikes, and then about an hour later one of them comes back without his bike and takes Pru’s. They’d obviously seen the bike and planned it out.”

The bike has a black frame and pink lettering.

One Sure Insurance has also posted a message on its Facebook page appealing for information and offering the reward following the ‘clearly planned’ theft.

The post states the bike ‘is our employee’s only mode of transport into work. Not only that but it was the last gift from her dad who sadly passed away in August 2019. As you can imagine it holds immense sentimental value’.

The post adds: “We want to do everything we can to try and get her bike back. Therefore the directors are offering a reward of £200 for information leading to the return of the bike. Please, please help us.”

Anyone with information should call Staffordshire Police on 101. Information can also be passed to One Sure Insurance at www. facebook.com/onesureinsurance.
