‘FUN PROJECT’ TURNS INTO MAJOR OVERHAUL FOR FOURSOME

-

A GROUP of friends bought a terraced house hoping for a ‘basic refurbishment’ - and found themselves almost overhauling the entire property.

Appearing on Homes under the Hammer in 2018, Atif, James, Sarah and Tim picked up the property in Crewe for £86,500.

The modest-looking home boasted off-road parking, a garden, two bedrooms, and even place mats instead of kitchen tiles.

The four originally hoped to spend £3,000 on a ‘basic refurbishment’ but soon found the work spiralling.

Vet Sarah said: “We’ve been friends for a good few years. “Everybody had done a little bit with property before but never anything together.

“We thought it would be a nice fun project.

“We just went for it for an overhaul after one job led to another.” The group managed to transform the property without any major falling out. Atif added: “It has been a bit of a learning curve as well. “We all had to chip in as much as one another and not fall out.

“Sarah lives opposite me so it was important not to fall out.”

A year later host Martin Roberts revisited the site and saw a drastic transformation that had been largely done by the group.

He “It’s worth the wait because this place is amazing. A brand new kitchen and bathroom have been fitted with a partial rewire and new central heating system.

“It was a comprehensive overhaul.”

The friends spent a total of £104,000 and, despite suggestions from estate agents that it could make around £13,000 in profit, they opted to instead rent it out.
