STOKE-ON-TRENT VET PRACTICE LIME TREES VETS HAS WON AN AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING FUNDRAISING SUPPORT

-

CHARITY Pet Blood Bank UK has revealed city vet practice Lime Trees Vets as one of the winners in its Heart of Pet Blood Bank Award 2019-20. Lime Trees Vets in Meir Park was recognised with the Fundraising Award for their 2019 spinathon event that raised £1,780 for the charity.

The Heart of Pet Blood Bank Awards seek to recognise inspiring people and dogs who go the extra mile to support the charity. The Fundraising Award celebrates an individual or team who has made a big difference by raising money to support the charity. It is about creativity, passion, and dedication as much as funds raised.

Lime Trees Vets organised a spinathon in October 2019 where the team took it in turns cycling for 36 continuous hours on stationary spin bikes. The passion, enthusiasm, and creativity shown by the practice with this event was incredible. In total, they raised £1,780, as well as lots of much needed awareness for the charity’s work.

Lime Trees Vets was presented with their award at a virtual awards ceremony on Tuesday 2 March 2021.

Kathryn Bradbury from Lime Trees Vets said, ‘We were really excited when we heard we had won the award. The spinathon was surprisingly good fun and we would like to give a special thanks to the team at Vets Now, who kept the bikes spinning whilst we slept! Pet Blood Bank UK is an amazing charity and it is thanks to them that our surgical and medical teams have been able to save the lives of many critical patients. We would like to thank everyone who took part, donated and sent us words of encouragement.’

Pet Blood Bank is the only charity offering a lifesaving blood service for all dogs across the UK. Just like the human blood service, dog owners kindly bring their much loved companions to give blood at one of the charity’s many donation sessions across the country. This blood is then processed and stored, ready to be sent out to vets when they need it for a patient. The blood is truly lifesaving with every donation having the potential to help save up to four other dogs.

More dog donors are always needed to keep up with the increasing demand for blood products. If you have a happy, healthy, and confident dog who is aged between one and eight and over 25kg they could be a lifesaver.

Pet Blood Bank UK

Launched in 2007, Pet Blood Bank UK is the only charity that provides a blood bank service for all vets across the UK. As part of its charitable remit, its aim is to advance animal health and welfare and to relieve suffering by providing quick and convenient access to blood. Similar to the human blood service, pet owners kindly take along their much loved companions to give blood at one of the many sessions across the country. The blood is then taken to the charity’s processing centre in Loughborough where it is separated into red blood cells and plasma products, and then stored ready for dispatch.

Every unit of blood helps save up to four other lives, saving thousands of lives every year. www.petbloodbankuk.org

Heart of Pet Blood Bank Awards

The Heart of Pet Blood Bank Award celebrates inspiring people and pets who go the extra mile to support Pet Blood Bank UK.

The charity is only where it is because of its dedicated supporters. The Heart of Pet Blood Bank Award is one small way they can say thank you.

The Heart of Pet Blood Bank Award was launched in memory of Debra, one of the charity’s biggest supporters and first team members. Debra lived and breathed Pet Blood Bank and took every opportunity to tell others about it. Debra very sadly lost her fight against cancer in 2011. The Heart of Pet Blood Bank Award is a legacy to her. Debra always recognised the support of the supporters and through this award, Pet Blood Bank continues to honour her passion.
