FRUSTRATED families are demanding action over lorries using their residential street – as constant dirt and dust leaves their cars and homes almost impossible to clean.

They live on Burnham Street, in Fenton, and blame the problem on trucks coming to and from the familyrun Potteries Demolition.

Cleaner Susan Bell has lived on the street for more than 35 years and blames some of her health problems on the conditions. She said: “When I moved into the property I had no health issues but now I’m asthmatic and I believe it is due to the dust.

“I live at the back of the site and there is constant dust behind my house. I haven’t got clean windows. I’ve just had my door done, and it’s a very dirty door again now. You want to see my carpet, I had a grey and white carpet – it’s dark brown now.”

Neighbour and restaurant manager Subham Razaq has always lived in Burnham Street.

The 34-year-old said: “Nothing gets done. My dad has been living here for over 50 years and nothing has changed. It’s been like this since the 70s.

“Look at the state of the cars on the road. You just can’t keep them clean.”

Taxi driver Sajid Hussein lives on Burnham Street and has the same problem with his taxi cab.

The 42-year-old said: “The street is filthy. Just look at the state of it?

“My cab is my living – and goodness knows what the environment is doing to the health of the residents.”

Potteries Demolition – which is based on Burnham Street – was founded in 1970.

The Sentinel has approached the company for a statement regarding the state of Burnham Street.
