Job-seekers needed to work with NASA... from Festival Park

- Laura Watson Business Editor laura,watson@reachplc.com

A MAJOR recruitment drive is underway to find staff to work with customers including NASA and the European Space Agency – from Stoke-on-trent.

Tekdata Interconnections is on the lookout for ‘multiple production and stores operatives’ to work at the firm’s ‘centre of excellence’ on Festival Park.

And an advert in yesterday’s Sentinel states that successful applicants will work with customers including NASA, the European Space Agency and the manufacturers of highperformance supercars. The rate of pay is £8.91 per hour, with the opportunity to earn more with optional overtime.

Bosses say recruits will work a four-and-a-half-day week on a single day shift – with benefits including a paid break, ongoing training and a free uniform.

An open day is set to take place today between noon and 2.30pm, and tomorrow from 10am until 1pm. Those interested are told there’s no need to register and they should instead turn up with photographic ID.

The sessions will take place at Tekdata Interconnections, Innovation House, The Glades on Festival Way.

Alpha 3 Manufacturing Group wants to double the 69-strong workforce at its Tekdata sister site by creating a total of 82 new jobs across various departments.

Tekdata will focus on providing a full range of cable harnesses, from specialist bespoke items to bulk orders, while Scunthorpebased DEM, which is also taking on dozens of staff, will become the firm’s centre of excellence for electro-mechanical manufacturing.

Dave Moore, managing director at Alpha 3 Manufacturing Group, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to recruit for so many roles at our new centres of excellence.

“It shows that both the UK economy is bouncing back after covid, and that premium quality UK manufacturing is still valued by customers.”
