PARENTS IN LIMBO AFTER NURSERY’S SUDDEN CLOSURE

Mum told issues with staffing are to blame

A CHILDREN’S nursery has permanently closed - leaving parents searching for alternative childcare.

Tiny Treasures Stoke, in Shelton, has stunned parents with its shock decision.

A note stuck to the door states: “Nursery is permanently closed to all children. Many apologies.”

The nursery provided childcare for children up to the age of four. It had enough room for 51 children and was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted at its last inspection.

Mum Natasha Walters is on the hunt for a new nursery for one-yearold son, Shakeem.

The 25-year-old, who lives in Shelton, has not been able to complete her university coursework or pick up shifts at the café where she works due to the nursery closure.

She said: “Shakeem went to the nursery on October 12 and then two days later they put red tape around the door and said they had permanently closed down.

“They have an app where they notify everybody and they said they won’t be opening again. They said it was due to staffing issues.

“I feel like they must’ve been aware of the situation for quite a while but they just didn’t let us know.

“Not everybody is up-to-date with social media so when I walked past the nursery there were parents standing outside knocking on the doors and there was nobody there. They weren’t aware that it was shut.”

Natasha added: “I’ve had to stop going into work and university because I have no childcare.

“I’ve lost money and I am behind on my coursework. I’ve got to go around looking for other nurseries. It took me ages to settle my son into that nursery.

“It was actually a good nursery. He loved it and had a good relationship with the staff. I think it’s sad for the parents, the staff and the children.

“It will be disruptive for the children.

“It will take them a long time to settle elsewhere.”

The Sentinel has approached Tiny Treasures Stoke for a statement regarding its closure.
