‘WE’LL MAKE FESTIVE SEASON SPARKLE...!’
Plans revealed for attractions as Winter Wonderland returns
PREPARATIONS are underway to bring Winter Wonderland back to the city centre.
The Christmas extravaganza will return to Hanley after Covid-19 meant last year’s event was cancelled.
With less than a month to go until it opens to the public, work is underway to transform Birch Terrace car park into the festive attraction.
This year, Winter Wonderland will feature a 30m x 16m undercover ice rink which will be able to hold 150 skaters per 45-minute session.
Rollercoasters and rides include Airmaxx, Freefall, No Limit, Sizzler, Crazy Mouse and the Dodgems. There will also be a Santa’s Grotto, smaller rides for children, games and an amusement arcade.
Families can enjoy seven food stalls alongside the usual Bavarian Bar serving luxury hot chocolate, mulled wine and draught beers, plus chaletstyle retail stalls.
Winter Wonderland will open on November 18, and run every day – except Christmas Day – until January 2.
A planning application has been lodged with Stoke-on-trent City Council.
Organisers Michelle and Darren Matthews said: “We are very excited to be bringing Winter Wonderland once again to our home city.
“Stoke-on-trent deserves something special, and we are going to make this festive season sparkle.
“This is one of the biggest festive attractions the area has ever seen and one that all of the family will be able to enjoy together.
“We are grateful to the city council for their support, we are also extremely happy and excited to be able to help the people of Staffordshire have a great time and enjoy the coming festive season.”
The attraction is free to enter, with rides available via pay-as-you-go tokens or four-hour unlimited riding wristbands. Wristbands are available to book now, priced at £9.99 or £14.99. Ice-skating costs £9 for adults, £8 for children, and £32 for a family ticket. For more information go to the attraction’s website.
