ATTENTION in the Coors League on Sunday turned to cup football as teams took part in the Autonet Insurance League Cup and the Tatters Trophy.

Early goals from Souleyman Soumare and James Beaman gave Adderley Green a comfortable 2-0 win away at AFC Moorlands in the second round of the League Cup.

The visitors also missed a first half penalty in a dominant display.

There was a real roller coaster of a game involving two Division Five outfits who dominated a half each in normal time.

Ball Green Veterans scored after only a couple of minutes and ran into a 3-0 lead by half time.

But Robin Hood stormed back after the break with Aiden Leech kickstarting the recovery with an early goal and Andy Mayer scored a rocket from 30 yards to reduce the arrears further.

It was Mayer again that made it 3-3 as he pounced on a mistake by the home keeper. Ball Green did have the chance to win it in normal time when they were awarded a penalty but Robin Hood keeper Chris Chimiczewski saved the spot kick and not for the first time as he makes a habit of saving penalties.

Extra time saw both sides push for the win as tired legs led to space opening up. Dominic Ellis scored for the visitors but Aiden Leech helped himself to four more in extra time to take the game away from the hosts despite a hat trick from Mike Rubanski to add to efforts by Simon Snape and Justin Pomelli. A great game where both sides gave everything.

It was plain sailing for First Division promotion hopefuls Canal Tavern Kidsgrove who eased past Premier Division new boys Royle St Rangers.

Tom Kirkham, Jimmy Beech and Ryan Garner all scored for the hosts with Dave Harry completing the scoring to send Tavern into the last 16.

A hard working performance from Division Five promotion favourites FC Maybank wasn’t enough to derail Premier Division FC Lambourne who go through to the next round courtesy of a 3-0 win.

Jake Hewitt opened the scoring with a fine strike from distance but missed the chance for his second from the spot.

Ben Lees made it 2-0 before the interval and Josh Clayton completed the scoring in the second half.

Joe Sargeant scored for the hosts but 18-year-old frontman Owen Harrison claimed a hat trick with the in form Luke Bourne weighing in with another double. Josh Bowden completed the scoring to make Knave of Clubs the team everyone wants to avoid in the next round. Joe Sargeant was on the mark for the Holditch Miners.

Jollees welcomed

Shane Potts back from suspension and he looked like a man keen to make up for lost time as he scored a hat trick against Division Four Bradwell.

James Lister scored twice with Tyler Dundas also on the scoresheet.

Division Five newcomers Crown Talke gave a good account of themselves before finally succumbing to Premier Division Men Unite in the second half.

The tie of the round saw two potential winners go head to head in a game that went all the way to penalties before Greenhoffs triumphed.

Experienced Michael Lennon levelled for the hosts in the 2nd half to send the game into extra time and although both sides had chances to win the tie it went to penalties with Greenhoffs making it through to the last

16.

Surely the shock of the day came at Thorley Drive, as Cheadle SMU overcame Second Division Coach & Horses.

The visitors struck first however when a fine run and shot by Gaby Chimuzinga saw the ball hit the back of the net for 0-1.

Despite Cheadle seeing plenty of the ball it was Coach that created clear cut chances as they hit the post and forced a fine save from the home keeper. Cheadle levelled on 68 minutes when Oli Teague found Kallan Humphries who made it 1-1.

Both sides tried to win it in extra time but Cheese won a penalty with two minutes left and Gaz Whitmore sent the keeper the wrong way to for a 3-2 win.

There was revenge for a 4-1 defeat to Sumner at the end of August for Staffs Vics, as they ran out 6-2 winners. Jordan Smith bagged a hat trick with Simon Worthington also on target.

Greg Lunt and Phil Moore scored for Sumner but they cant seem to stop conceding goals at the moment.

Third Division Potter took only two minutes to grab the lead against Burslem United as Christian Hale set up Declan Jaffray for his first Potter goal.

The game evened out for the rest of the half with both sides creating chances but not taking them.

Early in the second half and Burslem levelled thanks to a fine strike from Ash Newman for 1-1. The Potter went back in front almost immediately as Hale was again provider this time for Wayne Rushton to score making it 2-1.
