A NEW vegan-friendly boutique is offering shoppers the chance to buy ethical clothing.

The Boutique, in High Street, Biddulph, sells fashion items ranging from knitwear to footwear.

It’s been opened by entrepreneur and mum-of-three Amanda Green, who owns the Biddulph Tanning Centre and Beauty Lounge.

Although she lives in May Bank, the 47-year-old spends most her days in the Moorlands town and says it was missing a business like hers.

Amanda said: “When I first came into the High Street 15 years ago, this end of town was quite rundown, with lots of empty shops. But over the years, it’s built up and it’s now thriving, full of fabulous businesses.

“This is something I’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t had the time for, but now my children are older I can follow my passion.

“I started by having a few items or handbags in the tanning salon next door and they went really well, so I decided to open a shop. I’ve always loved fashion and clothing and prefer things that are a little different.”

Amanda has a huge collection of vegan-friendly clothes, which are free from animal materials such as wool, leather and fur.

She has been a vegan for three years and added: “I have a huge selection of quirky different items as well as more classic styles. I’ve catered for every style and every age. There really is something for everyone here.

“Clothes being vegan is quite important to me. I won’t buy fur and stuff. It’s harder because I’ve been trying to get knitwear without wool.

“Most people who have come in aren’t vegan. Soon, I’m arranging personal shopping experiences. With that, people are coming in and saying for example they are going on a date and they haven’t got a clue what to wear. I ask them questions about what they normally wear and what impression they want to give.”

Amanda has worked tirelessly for the last three months to ensure everything went to plan.

She added: “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and every one who has been in has said that it’s completely what the town needed.

“I am already looking to expand into my other building and doubling the size of it hopefully by Christmas time.”

Shopper Demi Bailey, aged 22, said: “I saw these beautiful boots and I really wanted them. I came in and asked Amanda to style me and I look amazing..”

Julie Proudmore, aged 61, added: “When you come in, you have a personal shopper who sorts you out. It’s fabulous.”
